I can’t tell if this guy is crazy or awesome or both. I’m talking about Parisian hair stylist Djelani Maachi.
Most salons in Paris close at 6 PM, but on nights with a full moon, Maachi’s salon stays open all night. He preps his clients inside (shampoo, treatment, etc.), and then takes them out into the open air to do the snipping under the rays of the full moon. Why? Because some believe the full moon makes hair grow better.
There is no scientific evidence for this phenomenon, but I like this guy’s style. The way he talks so sincerely in the video about the effects the full moon has on hair growth makes me smile. He says his clients report more volume, faster growing, and, for balding people, an end to hair loss.
I did a little online research on the topic of the moon’s effect on hair growth, and found the consensus to be pretty simple.
So maybe the full moon does not really have beneficial effects on hair. But you cannot deny the value of the experience itself. I get my hair cut at Supercuts. I like Supercuts. But would I appreciate the chance to get my hair cut outside in the fresh air under a bright full moon in the City of Light?
Maybe.
And, who knows? Maybe the myths are true after all?
